Front brake line length kz650

My bike is parked 100 km away, so I am trying to save a 200 km round trip to measure, by asking if one you knows the length of the front brake lines from the splitter to the calipers? I have searched and looked through a lot of old threads, but none of them quoted the actual length of the brake lines. So if there is a kind soul that could either tell me of memory, point me to a place where it is specified or perhaps measure, then I would really appreciate it.

I guess that may depend on which model you have. If it is a 1981-83 CSR, Partzilla says it is 600mm.

It is a 1977 with a brake splitter and two calipers. Judging on the length of that one it must be for a model with single caliper or without the brake line splitter as 600mm would get you all the way to the caliper I suppose.

You'll want to get the correct length >> because of the up & down movement of the front end, too long may get burned by the exhaust pipe and too short could be stressed. That 600mm L on the 650-CSR is eye-to-eye.

The CSR is a twin disc with splitter.

Not that it really matters here, but the 1000-CSR is dual disk, not the 650-CSR. The csr forks are probably longer, so the lower brake line is probably longer than a 77 650.

A picture of your bike would be very helpful. That would help us identify it as a 1977 KZ650-B1 or a 1977 KZ650-C1 (or maybe even a later model). Ed

Interesting. Partzilla shows dual discs for the 650 CSR

If you make your own line from Earl's components this question is immaterial. It's easy to do and cheaper than purchasing a prebuilt line most of the time.

That is a very good point and reasonable request :)

OK. Step one is to find out exactly what year and model bike you own. I can tell you for certain that is NOT a 1977. The forks, carbs, swingarm, wheels, etc. all show is is a later model.

Take a look at you bike's VIN (frame number) and then compare it to those at models.kz650.info/index.htm to see what year and model you have. The bike's VIN will be stamped into the neck of the bike where the front forks attach. Also, find the engine serial number which is stamped near the oil filler cap and also compare it to see if it's the correct engine for the bike model. Ed

Yeah unfortunately the papers and VIN number are as far away as the bike. Even then, I do not think that it would help, as it is my clear impression that it is a bastard with parts from a lot of different models. The engine is a kz750E for instance. And I am pretty sure that the papers says 1977 Z650 (as I am in Denmark and therefore it is not called KZ).

But perhaps you can then just help me identify the frontend? That should be enough to order brake hoses in my opinion.
