Z1 Euro Dual Disc Thickness
05 Dec 2019 06:48
Just wondering? Did the Z1 dual disc set-up offered as original supplied equipment across the pond get the same thickness of each 6-bolt disc as the USA versions single disc?

I have asked on Z1OC forum for you. Reply was "there is no such thing as a 6 hole thin disc". Early Z1's until the A4 had 6 hole discs. A4 onwards had 4 Hole discs.
6 hole discs were only made in 7mm thickness and 4 hole in both 7mm and 5mm thickness.

Thank-You for the reply Warren! Too bad the USA got robbed of this feature and had to pay extra. I knew the 9999xxx Accessory RH disc upgrade got the thick(7mm) just wondering about other markets.

Wouldn't that make sense seeing as though the single rotor bikes were equipped with 7mm rotors?

Absolutely true for the USA Rick, would be silly to have two different disc's. But subtle differences in European Kawi's, lighting, fenders, seats etc. you never know?

I switched to duel disks in 87. I was wrenching at a salvage yard restoring bikes that were worth it. Some were too far gone. Combined the parts from H2's,GPZ 750 and two KZ 900's to do it. I already had a front wheel from a KZ 900 parts bike I had on hand. The disks were heavy but didn't cause any problems. Later I put in progressive springs and the whole setup worked great. In 15 I picked up two factory drilled disks from a later model Z 1000. One caliper is upside down but there's no issue bleeding it at the banjo. The one bracket has a cutout on the bottom and a washer cured that. I like the H2 calipers even though they're heavier than stock, I think they're sexy. Been planning on drilling and tapping the one and installing a bleeder but that's not a high priority.
