Thank you Kawasaki for making our forks 40mm. I was lucky enough to find fork seals, but have not been able to find fork wipers, or dust covers??? Anybody know where to get a set from? I'd like to ride a little bit this year!

Partzilla shows them as unavailable so it looks like it's either aftermarket or NOS, as in OLD rubber. I have used NOS rubber parts before without problems, the nice thing about fleabay is that they can be returned for a refund if they really are dried up and brittle.

I think Z1 has some new aftermarket replacements?

I bought NOS and they came apart in less than a year. Got new aftermarket ones from z1parts but now they are cracking.

At least these have a lifetime warranty. The ones I bought in 13 were $45 a piece being genuine Kawasaki. I think was supposed to be for the pair but I was overcharged by a crooked salesman. Spent over $2000 with them.
Z1parts always stands by their warranties and will email them about these.

I guess it depends on how they were stored before being sold or maybe when they actually were made? 12 years ago I replaced my fork dust covers with NOS ones and they still look like new. Ed

I am fortunate my old-old stock that were on my bike originally are still good. Of course they have never been Arizona desert baked.

Z1 is top notch. I have nothing buy praise for Z1 after all of the small orders I have placed with them in the past. It gets harder and harder by the day to source these discontinued parts.

In light of finding new wipers, a good used set with free shipping may be one option. (one of the eBay links above)

40 year old rubber gets hard and brittle just like tires. I'm disappointed in the new ones. Aftermarket can be a crap shoot but one year. REALLY? I'll call z1parts. They've always treated me right.

You're just extra hard on things Steve! I think it's all of the blinding UV light and heat from your re-entry into the visible spectrum from the blinding speeds. LOL

I also agree that Z1E is great, and will have no problem with warrantying your wipers. If I remember right, I think they are ~35 buck each. Don't quote me on this, I was wrong once.

As another member pointed out a while back, rubber shelf life depends upon how it was stored. My wipers are 39 years old and still on my bike with no cracks and still pliable. Drgamma has a box full of rubber gaskets and NOS o-rings that are at least 40 years old, or better stored in his workshop in a cardboard box that are still completely usable.
Although I would not want to buy a 40 year old tire (safety reasons) , things like seals and wipers should be fine unless stored where UV light and excessive heat can dry out the compounds in the rubber. it should be fine.

It's z1parts.net I'm talking about. Best return policy in the business. Bought new Tack and Speedos from them but they were defective. They bent over backwards to send me working ones but that batch had problems so they paid all the shipping and returned my money. I wound up getting used OEM ones, gutted them and are using them now. Like I said, aftermarket is a crap shoot.
