If you plan to replace the drive chain be sure to replace both sprockets at the same time. Sprockets that have almost any wear will wear out a chain prematurely just as a worn chain will wear out new sprockets prematurely. They tend to wear together, so mismatching them isn't a good idea.
You can use a quality drive chain with a master link; be sure to install the master link clip facing the correct direction. Don't buy a cheap chain as it will wear out quickly or may even break which can cause a wreck. D.I.D.; EBC; RK; and Tsubaki make good chains. Ed

This is a great topic in and of itself. On the ride home today I thought about the chain and the master link. My 650 came with an endless chain, my next bike had a shaft drive and now I'm doing a master link 630 on the Geep and I dont have the confidence in it that I had in the endless. I replaced everything last year and yes, it is imperative that you install the master clip running in the correct direction else the chain fall off, get stuck and seize the rear wheel, punch a hole in the cases and leak out your oil. Another alternative is to buy a link that in conjunction with a chain splitter tool you can basically rivet that link so it can be the next best thing. This is something you'll want correct, especially in your case. If you have somebody professional do it It's unlikely they acquiesce unless you buy the items from them. It's a bit out a quandary and you'll need to find your way through it.
If I left anything out I'm sure the others will fill in. If I think of anything more I'll add it.
I'm going to go this route myself. They aren't cheap and its not recommended to go cheap on this tool but I have a bunch of bikes that need chains, I have a very slight uncomfortable feeling about a master link with a clip. Don't care about facts or statistics, I want that feeling gone.
I've tried to destroy these chains and its remarkable how strong these hardened pieces are and that gives me confidence and confidence is what you want when you are on a bike.
Maybe the percentages of something breaking with a clip is very minute but I've reduced that to this; The chances I'm really concerned about are only two -- 0 or 100 percent.
I want the zero.
How's that profile pic coming along?

He says “It was a really fun bike to work on, and it’s even more fun to ride. It’s light and quick.” To be honest, I don't believe he has ridden it much if ever. Why? Because the tires still have the little whiskers on them. Ed

Hahaha, I always love to hear from you. Great point! Still these are hot bikes right now so I sent a text to see it. Thing is, for the right price these bikes are an investment. It's not assured and you'll have to wait for your money but still the fricken thing looks great.
There is something about simple that is sublime
Of course, he could have worn those tires down and decided to go new for the Photo shoot, that's a possibil.

Also, lots of times on CL, more so lately, deals seem to good to be true and that's because they are scams. Scams to collect emails, phone numbers, whatever. I use a Google voice number for such crapola.
Works a treat
