GSXR Front End Swap was created by dpivas7
I have a 1982 KZ750LTD that I have been working on for almost a year now. I have replaced the rear stock springs with custom Hagons and now I am looking to upgrade the front suspension. I love the look of inverted forks so I really want to throw on a GSXR front end.
I am unsure of all the changes that I need to make in order to accommodate such a swap. I found a special made conversion stem along with steering bearings that I want to buy and I found an entire 1996 GSXR front end (fork, axle, triple tree, brake calipers). I've found some other '06 front ends that are a bit pricier but look better as well.
I have no idea what size the hub/axle are on the stock KZ750, but I am assuming it won't match the GSXR so I'll have to get a new front wheel as well (I have planned on getting new wheels anyways). Is this true? What other components may I need to replace in order to fit the front end?
Thanks for the help!

I think both 'phoenix fighter' and 'wiers' used GSXR front ends on their bikes (thoughI think they were both 1000ccs) Look up their build threads for more info.
I went with a ZX9R on mine as it was longer than the GSXR. I think it was the longest upsy-dupsy available at the time (from the jap bikes anyway). Even then,I ended up fitting fork extensions as there was bog all clearance under the exhaust ( around 8cm + - if I remember right)

Unfortunately, wiers bought his bike with the front end already swapped out! I will check out phoenix fighter though. Thanks!

I was able to score a straight, clean GSXR front end (USD fork, wheel, calipers, brakes, brake master cylinder, triple tree...) for $100 at a swap meet the other day!
My only concern though, was the guy did not know what year it came from exactly. He said maybe a 1993 GSXR. Anyone have experience with swapping this fork on a KZ750?

this thread goes over what it takes to convert the donor front end to fit the kz.

do you plan to use the gsxr wheel?
gsxr brakes?
what header do you plan to run?
these are all things that will need consideration.as the stock gsxr front end and wheel are going to be shorter than the kz stuff by 2/3 inches overall.

I plan on using the whole front end. I don't like the idea of using the smaller wheel, but I'm kind of hosed so I will take the good with the bad. I'll have to get creative to try to maintain the steering geometry.
I was going to buy a custom triple tree from cognitomoto.com, but they are only for 1997-newer GSXRs. I will probably just weld on a spacer to my KZ steering stem to account for the change in length.

Here some very helpful conversion guides for the Front End and Swing Arm.

Here is a complete front end, located close to me in MO. It looks really heavy to me. Maybe it's just all of the junk on the handlebars.

That also looks like a kaw engine with a supercharger rigged onto it.
