KZ750B Rearsets
09 Apr 2018 18:19 - 09 Apr 2018 18:20
Hello all! I’ve been lurking here for years and received all kinds of knowledge and entertainment for which I thank you.
Last year I started modifying my basket case KZ750B to a cafe racer (I know, big surprise). It has been progressing along fairly well. I have one issue I’m trying to figure out and haven’t been able to. I hope the collective knowledge here will help.
I bought Universal Tarozzi rearsets and they mounted up well to the foot peg locations. I switched the rear brake master cylinder to the outside so that the rod had a straight shot.
Everything matches up well, however I haven’t been able to figure out how to install a return spring. Hopefully someone has done it or has an idea I can’t think of.
In the included pic, the rearset brake pedal is hanging loose and not in correct position. The silver mounting point on the back is where the rod mounts and runs up to the brake cylinder.
And I don’t know why it’s upside down! Lol

Thank you for the response. One additional detail. I’m using the stock MC which just has a rod fitted into the base of the MC plunger. It’s not threaded in. So there’s no stop or up-tension on the pedal. If my foot isn’t on it, it can rotate counter-clockwise, pulling the rod out. Hope this is explained clearly. If I can’t figure out a fix maybe I’ll get a different MC like yours.

Since you are going for a cafe racer style, I would ditch that gigantic MC and get a small modern one like Scirocco has. I did the same. I made a simple bracket that fit into the stock MC mount to hold a Brembo MC. I worked out a way to keep the linkage behind the frame for a cleaner look.
