Upgrading Front Disc Caliper to 4 or 6 po?

I have a 76/77 KZ650-B1 with wired spoke rims. I want to change the stock caliper to something more modern (4 or 6 Pot). Has anyone had a successful conversion? If yes, what parts did you use (caliper, mounting bracket combination)?

I put brembo p108 calipers on stock '80 kz750 front end (same front end as 77-80 kz650) using the stock dual disks. Required a spacer for more offset on the disks and custom brackets to hold the calipers. I havent ridden it yet butI have a similar setup on my kz1000 using custom full floating disks and the brakes are amazing. Looks period too.

DoctoRot..Thanks for the quick response. I do not want to re-invent the wheel therefore, would it be possible o get a drawing of the caliper bracket? I only plan on upgrading my single disc. I have a new EBC Pro-Lite Floating disc MD4052LS. Will your setup work with this disc rotor?

You need to look at how much space you have between the fork mounting lug and the spokes on the wheel. Opposing piston calipers are deep and depending on your application there may not be enough room. There is a guy on the The GS Resources that sells caliper conversion brackets but he selected dual piston sliding pin calipers because of this issue.

PM me your email, I think I still have the CAD drawing for the bracket. You will also need a spacer for the disk. And I just remembered I removed about 8mm from the inside of the caliper mounts on the lower fork tubes. It's not a bolt and go scenario but any semi-competent machinist should be able to make it work. Edit: i mostly removed the material from the forks so that I could mount the bracket the the back of the caliper mounts because I preferred that aesthetic, but I believe PMC makes bolt on kits for the Lockheed/p108/ grimeca replicas
