I bought a good running 1984 Kawasaki ltd 700 and am trying to build a cafe styled bike. I am just not sure what forks to use or how to get the desired look in the front end thanks

The KZ700 is a fine machine. Just remember: Form follows function, not the other way around.

Welcome aboard!
What is the specific "desired look"? "Cafe racer" can cover a wide range of machines.
And as far as the seat goes, on the simpler end you might be able to get a GPz seat cover and trim the foam to fit. On the more difficult end (heh heh) you have the rather uncomfortable full-on cafe racer seats: basically a fiberglas pan that sits on the frame rails and may have as much as a FULL INCH of padding.
It's your bike, obviously, so it's up to you but have you thought about whether you want to cut the frame? That will greatly influence the end result. No cutting and no welding will limit your cafe-esque options but will allow you to return the bike to stock at some point if you decide to do so.

There was only one KZ700, it was the A1. This was considered a "standard". It was a debored KZ750L3. There wasn't a KZ700 LTD. check the vin number. It should tell you what you have.
How about a pic of the actual bike.

Hey, another 700! Hope you get some pictures. I'll add one of mine, though it is from last year so some stuff like exhaust, mirrors, etc. have changed.
