Front 19" KZ spoke rim best tube or go tubless?
17 Oct 2016 12:34
I'm running a 77 KZ1000 that should do 140mph in the quarter mile. I'm running a 19" spoke wheel. Is there a certain tube to use that will be safer and can spoke rims be set up to run tubeless? Didn't know if a tire will seal on a spoke rim because the bead might not seal even if the spokes are sealed. HELP!!!! Tom

I guess it depends on the age of the rim. I had a lovely rim made for me by Buchanans for my now sold Sportster and that was tubeless. Pretty sure if it's leaky you can source some kind of sealant or something similar

Run a tube in a V rated tire.

Yea, I'm running a V rated Avon tire. I read some other areas about tube thickness and heat being a factor for HD tubes, but it's also nice to keep the weight down but safely.

17 Oct 2016 19:55with respect to heat.... uummm ...you are only running over 100mph for a few seconds so I seriously doubt a good inner tube in a V tire is going to overheat and destruct.tomsbadkz wrote: I'm running a 77 KZ1000 that should do 140mph in the quarter mile. Getting spokes to seal for a tubeless application can be done, but requires basically rebuilding the wheel with sealant on each spoke. Most guys who have tried it complain of constant leaks and maintenance. There is a product to run tubeless tire on spooked rims for dirtbikes. Check out Nuetech TUbliss (

). It may be worth giving them a call.
