As an aside, look at how minimal, fragile, and weak the 3 hollow spoke "spiral" cast front wheel of a new GSXR1000 looks.....then think of it's 180 mph top speed potential....stock! Unbelievable!

Thats pretty impressive about the 14,000 red line, but all the new sport bikes look alike. You get these guys that go into a dealership and spend $14,000.00 to have a bike that looks like everyone else's. Don't get me wrong, they are nice, but I like the feeling of putting my own twists to my KZ and it looking different than everyone's bike. You guys know if you pull up to a stop light and there is a GSXR and a CUSTOM KZ1000, the long stare will go to the KZ!!!!!!!

YUP, every day. Had a HD guy pull up behind me and rev his bike. I revved mine to red line, he frowned and laid back as I pulled away. Pull along side a crotch rocket and you'd think you had Cooties by the way they look at you. The chick on the back is all eyes and he gets away as fast as he can. Different worlds.

That is freakin awesome!!!!! This is the KZ i got rid of in 2002. It was a 1385 motor. I raced it a couple times at the track. It went 10.9 while blowing the rear tire off of it midway into third gear. what a fun ride. It had PM chicane wheels that were very nice, but on the bike Im doing now, Im putting a 300 Avon Cobra on a 10.5" rim and I thought the spoke wheel on the front would have a funny bike look about it. I have a 13" over 300 Myrtle West arm on it. Like I said, these pics are of my old bike.

Hey guys. Just got off the phone with Norton at Z1 Enterprises. The move to Florida was a challenge but they are up and running. He said they will get on the forum shortly and be back as they were. He said they are doing more with the other makes of bikes also. I asked him about the front rim. It is an aftermarket remake but is a nice steel rim. the number I reached him at is 315-926-5054. Tom

10.9 is how many mph? 130?
Damn nice bike. How often did you race it and how often did you have to rebuild it?

I have put more miles on my HD than any of the other bikes that I have owned in my lifetime. But I am not your typical person. The bike, whatever is popular at the time doesn't make you a certain type of person. They put on their costumes and because they overpaid for their underperforming bikes they think they are bad asses. Any bike that puts the wind in my face is my kinda bike. Its really funny back when I was growing up the HD riders got shunned. They had to ride in the back because of all the loose bolts and shit was falling off. Most HD riders do about 2000 miles per year and call themselves bikers. In my travels most that I have encountered has always been friendly....But I was riding their brand.

Yeah... a "streetbike" 10.9 should be somewhere in the 125 - 130 mph range, normally..... and on a 550 lbs. KZ with a 170 lbs. average amateur drag racer pilot, no slick or wheelie bar, I would guess that takes about 130 - 140 RWHP, too.

Re: Front rim from Z1 Enterprise
21 Sep 2016 13:46That's a great point. Crash a newer bike and it might be toast, rims and frame. Older bikes were overbuilt and way heavier. But when they get in minor crashes sometimes the damage is minor. A few years ago a car turned in front of me riding my KH400. Besides a small bone in my foot, the only things bent/broken were the headlight ears and the brake lever.Kray-Z wrote: As an aside, look at how minimal, fragile, and weak the 3 hollow spoke "spiral" cast front wheel of a new GSXR1000 looks.....then think of it's 180 mph top speed potential....stock! It ran about 126 but I had no traction. It was a street bike. I raced about 3 times. I won the bike class the first time out, 2 trophies and $100 cash. Alot of fun.
