Fork upgrade alternatives to swapping? was created by GPzMOD750
It's getting colder and I'm trying to get s jump on plans to rebuild my dual shock GPz. I'm pretty sure I don't want to swap the forks or swing arm.

I have some ZRX shocks on it already. What would be the best way to freshen up and upgrade the front suspension without retrofitting something from a new model?

Cartridge emulators are supposedly a very good upgrade. Racetech is the only place I've heard of that sells them.

Start with the basics - when is the last time the fork oil was flushed out and replenished with the correct amount and weight of fork oil? If that is not done periodically the front forks will not perform well. Ed

Race Tech emulators, inner and outer bushings, new correct rate springs, seals, wipers, and fluid. The RaceTech parts are very high quality. Have the steering head bearings been serviced?

Besides what was mentioned, a steering damper is always a plus.

Have you serviced the shocks? I found 2 blown bladders in mine.

The only thing I've done is the seal on the one side.

It handled very well up to now so I've left everything else alone. But I'm going to go through it stem to stern this winter and make repairs and up grades that aren't too crazy or take away from the vintage appearance, hence the reason for not wanting to change the fork or swingarm.

My goal is a vintage twist on a street fighter.

You can use this part number for a replacement bladder: 120104600101

They are a little longer but work and aren't $100/ea from RaceTech.

Are the bladders for the shocks? I'm not having any issues there. or with the front either but I figured since I'm going to be doing a ton of work it'd be nice to bring my front end up to par of the rear.

The RaceTech site is confusing. Just a bunch of part numbers and specs. No actual cross reference to makes and models of bikes. Anyone know which emulator kit I would need?

The bladders are for the shocks, they are known to go bad. If you dont have a nitrogen charge the bladder is split.
