Gpz900r front end on an St, questions? was created by Crowsonpunk
Hi everyone! I've ended up with a complete 900r front end attached to a trike I've bought. It's complete, wheel, yokes etc etc and the antidive is all present.

My question is this,
Is it worth refurbing it and fitting it to my St? If there was a weak point to to the bike it would be the forks tbh and the tyre choice on a 19" wheel is horrendous? I feel the anti dive and air assist might be helpful too tbh?

I can get adaptors machined up for the handlebars so that's not an issue.

Thoughts everyone?

Jon.

What is a St? A shaft drive? 79-80 KZ1000 shaft model?
Whats wrong with the front end on the St? Need one? 40mm tubes with a 19" wheel? from a 79 Shafty?

Yeah sorry, 1980 kz1000 E2.

Front end on it is OK, just not up to the rest of the chassis tbh. My other option is fork valves and progressive springs.

I'll measure them tomorrow but they look about the same length.

That's a good point though. Especially with the smaller front wheel.

I may just swap the front wheel over.

Jon had the same problem. Look up Phoenix fighter project. Lots of good info there.

I am new to the 1979-80 KZ 1000 shaft drive model . I have learned that parts are a whole lot different than chain drive models.
But the front ends were beefed up to 40mm tubes. The front wheel axle was placed in front of lower leg.
The trip tree's were wider. I was wondering if these parts morphed into the KZP police bikes?

I happen to have some parts I want to sell. I'll post another ad. I know shipping heavy will be the killer. But if I do it off ebay I can sell without the fees, save a few Bucks. I have the set of wheels , take offs with good cheap rubber (ChenSing?)

I know of 3 Guys here doing projects with these shafty's
I'll post a for sale ad. Here before you guys move it to that forum, seem's to be not a lot of interest over there in the for sale / wanted forums. Seems to move slow over there? I'll post this. I seem to stop pages for some reason?
Any more interest? Try and navigate over to the for sale column.

The anti-dive forks were phased out for a reasom, leaky, over complicated and expensive to service (IIRC the anti-dive valve parts aren't available anymore, and tend to be blocked off somehow) better off going with later zx9 forks OR gold valve emulators and progressive springs in your stockers

my bikes; 80kz1000(project), 77 gl1000, 74 h2 (project)
Past; 78 kz1000, 83 kz550
