Z1/KZ 900 wheel
25 Apr 2016 15:43
I was asked what front wheel I had on my Z1. While I was working at a motorcycle salvage business wrenching, making bikes for sale in the 80's I found 2 4 bolt KZ rotors and 2 H2 calipers. I had a complete KZ 900 wheel so it was a bolt on mod. Had everything I needed including a master cylinder. I got screwed by the owner for my money but got a lot of parts I needed for free. He always wanted my Z1 and after I left he tried to keep a KZ 1000 by writing on the engine "NO PARTS INSIDE," It was a bike I was to work on but I quit before I got it running. It belonged to a cop. Not only did he not keep it, he lost his business too. A year later I rode by to see the building was torn down and a used car lot was on the slab.
The Z1/KZ 900/1000's had a chrome cover on one side hiding the bolt patterns. They had the mounts on the fork legs as well.

I like this info! Now I know what to look for with distinct features, hope I won't have to do too much experimenting since I'm using 440 forks, rotors and I believe a CSR right hand caliper. It's a exact mirror to my left side cal. The hunt begins.. :woohoo:

Why not a early 650 front end?

Ummm..idk? Well actually cause that means I'd have to get another set of forks, triple, rebuild kit for said forks for piece of mind and new bearings. The ABs races don't look too easy to remove? Hahahaha! If the 650 were 33mm, I'd totally consider it.
