Pop Rivets!! Sir, I am sure your not suggesting I would ever pop rivet anything to my beloved Lila. This is not a Honda after all!
They are actually SS allen bolts. I replaced pretty much all the original hex head stuff since many were looking a bit grubby and it was going to be too much work for me to strip them all, and get an electroplating kit.
It is, in fact stock, and the rear fender is curved to match the bend in the mounting bracket. The photo isn't great, but you can see they mate pretty much exactly. Again, if this had been modified, and why would anyone bother, it would have been one hell of a lot of work to maybe just change the angle of the ducktail slightly. I can't rule it out entirely, but I can't imagine anyone bothering. If I were to straighen the mounting plate, then I would have to beat hell out of the much thicker fender mounting point as well.
Lastly, an idea of how the everything kind of lines up. I think we're on to something here, Ed. The frames are subtly different, but not much. And I too had always though everything pre-77/78 was the same except forthe charging etc....
Sorry if this is high-jacking a little. I've just been trying to figure out this seat thing for a long time now, and this is a good lead.

Sorry about the pop rivet comment. Looked like a bad job in the pic. That bend looks suspect and the seat being hammered down. PO's have a tendency to do things like this.

I was hoping maybe somebody could double check these measurements against their stock seat so I can get a rough idea if this seat pan can be used with a stock foam/cover kit.
Under rear lip to major bend
Major bend to latch

I've got both a C1 and C2s, and the seat swaps between no problem.
The rear frame section is the same.
I've got a stock seat downstairs I can measure shortly....
Johnny, the curved part of the brace should be flat.
Theses pictures showing spike stips during the seat recover.

Thanks Rob,
Occam's razor at work. The brace is bent. Interesting tho, how everything is so perfectly and evenly bent and matched. Thanks for getting the measurements up. Once I can get to my spare parts, I can compare what I have as well, and play with what I have to make it fit. I'd rather not have to hammer in another seat pan to make it all fit! :woohoo: Thanks as well datachomper, your gonna love that '650 I bet.
Cheers!
