kz650b swing arm bolt

I'm having a Damn hard time getting the swing arm off. I don't wanna mess up the bolt head. It won't come off. It looks like on the nut there's a locking type of washer or something. Are these torqued on hard?

Actually I guess it has a lock nut on it. How do I get it off?

Unless modified, the original setup was a simple bolt and nut. Don't remember whether a lockwasher or any other lock, but no reason to not just put on a big socket and loosen while holding the other side with an open end.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Well it's a special nut that has something that's apart of it that keeps it from loosening from vibration. I'm guessing I'm gonna end up replacing it after I get it off

According to the Kawasaki parts diagram, the B1 should not have a washer of any kind under the bolt or the nut. Perhaps if you posted a picture of what you are seeing, a member here can offer a suggestion.

That is a lock nut. You need the right tool for the job. A 1/2" socket an ratchet will get it done. Nothing special here.

They are pretty tight but nothing you can't manage by hand if you have the right sockets for both sides., no air tools required.

I had a problem with the needle bearings and insert bush stuck solid in a 550 project recently, even a 20 ton press wouldn't shift it. Several heating cycles with a blow lamp and a big hammer finally shifted it. Never seen one this bad before.

I got it off it was a 23mm socket I think.
