Bad enough I'd replace, but it could be welded... Maybe

I personally would not want to run that wheel at speeds. Shows signs of deep fractures on a CAST wheel
If steel or forged I would give fixing it a try.
Could only imagine going deep into a fast corner and having it fail

Apparently the bike it is fitted to has passed a uk roadworthiness test with the wheel like that.

I've scrapped a few of these over the years, just this one is a bit special...

I tend to doubt it would cause issues. Those old cast wheels have a LOT of metal in them. The damage it out on the lip of the rim too.

You can pick up new/used wheels for very affordable prices. I'd look for a new wheel and swap it out next tire change.

As cheap/common as factory wheels are Id chuck it unless its something odd like a Z!R rim. ;)
Still recovering, some days are better than others.

it is an 1100R 18 inch 7 spoke, super rare. This damage uncertainty is probably a deal breaker.

Wheel is repairable. All depends on how much you trust the guy welding it.
If it was me I'd run it but, I'd be the one welding it.

Weld it and run it, find a good welder and ask, worst case you're left with a bit of porosity and a tube after welding

Afterall, when are you even going to find 1100R parts?

My Lester front mag was losing air. The rear was destroyed in the wreck. I didn't trust it so I got rid of it. BIG mistake. I'd have it fixed and run a tube.

Googling this further it seems opinions are really split on repairing cast alloy wheels, even the welding forum has some sharply contrasting opinions.

The other issue is testing it, as a minimum dye testing but preferably x ray. Unless I did that I'd never fully trust it. I think I'll pass on it.

If the rim i strait when measured and it's only the lip that is damaged, I would definatly leave it to a welder that has experience with car rims and try to get it fixed. What is there to lose?
We have welded boat props and they have worked like new, why not a sturdy bike rim.
