Removing the trip odometer knob

Trying to fix problems with my speedo, light cover inside is loose and rattles around, etc. I have the bottom cover off and now the top one but need to remove the trip knob and can't for the life of me see how it comes off. Thought there was a small screw inside the knob but I can't see it.

I think it's a reverse thread.
Pics?

Mine is reversed thread so that when you rotate the knob counter clockwise, it cranks the trip odometer forward to 0000.
It freewheels in the other direction and you have to hold the other side of the shaft with needle nose pliers somehow to loosen the collar.

What is the speedo off?
Z1-R speedo has a reset knob out the front it has a LH thread and the reset shaft doesn't rotate CCW,
which allows removal of the knob - see pic.

'83 1100 spectre. The guages are a one piece unit. The trip knob disappears inside the unit and there is no shaft to grab. I tried again tonight but no good, so I had to put it back together as is. It turns freely the other way so I can't unscrew it in any way.

Can you please post a close-up pic of the knob - sounds like it might be a push fit if there's no screw holding it on. If it "free-wheels in the other direction then it's probbably not a LH thread screw-on shaft.

I have sane bike. Just took mine apart to install new tach. I used a micro Philips screw driver. I don't remember mine being reverse thread though. Screw is super small. I left mine in knob do I didn't lose it. Drop that sucker game over

that is the way the knob mounts to the shaft on some of them but the shaft is a reverse thread on a collar
