27 Apr 2015 09:16
Hey all, I am having a hell of a time finding grommets for my side covers, doese any one know of an alternative? I can't find a part number, I have checked hardware stores, no luck, both mine blew off and I got some really nice ones on eBay and don't wanna loose them, 1977 KZ750 twin.

One of these might work
www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDetails.aspx?i...asaki&item=92071-056
For parts diagrams go to kawasaki.com OwnerInfo, Parts Diagrams etc etc

The aftermarket grommets shown by Z1Enterprises are correct for your motorcycle...and they are in-stock.

The problem with Z1E is the $7 shipping and handling. Try z1partsinc.net

z1-parts-inc has a set of six for $14 plus $2 shipping on eBay. Two large and four small.

Here's a link to a diagram that shows the grommets and part numbers so you can see what replacements match your requirements. Ed

Windshield wiper grommets are a possible alternative. Someone here on KZR reported using them, but I don't recall any specifics. I think they're usually in the hardware section at the auto parts store, maybe the Help brand or Doorman.
Also, if the side covers blowing off is a problem, you might try drilling a hole in one or more of the tabs & adding a hitch pin or something to keep them secure. There's a photo around here on KZR somewhere.

another option is those rubber groms that you'd use to protect a wire going through the hole in say your firewall you just drilled. Those come in all kinds of sizes. Forgot the name of the brand that had good quality ones that are more pliable like rubber opposed to the cheapys that are stiff and like a molecule away from being plastic.
