Kz1000 K/J disc rotors '81-'82 was created by P.abrera
Not very familiar with the specs of these bikes, anyone know what the outer diameter of the front disc rotors are for the 7-bolt pattern discs? (Bolt pattern attached)

Is there a 270mm version? Im basically looking for a 270 mm disc with the 7-bolt kawi pattern.

Hoping to get a few leads.

I'll go measure some 81 rotors on a moment.

Speaking of rotors, does anyone know the story behind Kawasaki"s asymmetrical holes in the 70's and 80's ? I can't figure it out.

Can I convince you to paint it flat black?

7 bolt front discs are 260, 270 and 280mm with a 4.5mm wear linmt.

IIRC the gpz1100 B2, z1100R had the wider 280mm discs, the GPz750R1 had 260mm and most of the the kz 400/500/550 and 1000/1100 were 270mm. Not sure about the z650's.

I upgraded by 10 mm on my discs but may have changed the caliper mounts, can't remember now.

Caution when buying used discs from breakers, judging by most ebay listings they rarely even measure them for thickness or check for warp and you could be buying scrap metal.

1980 Gpz550 D1, 1981 GPz550 D1. 1982 GPz750R1. 1983 z1000R R2. all four aces

I bought mine on eBay. They were warped. I filed not as described and got a refund. He wanted more for shipping than the disks. They have the odd pattern. Took them to a friend with a lathe, he milled the flange that bolted to the hub. They must have been in a wreck. Just slightly bent. Have them on now and they work great. The guy was selling a vintage rack for a Z1 too. I could tell it was bent, asked him about it, he said it wasn't. The other buyer left a bad review, next thing I knew, this seller was no longer a member. I guess he didn't want to pay return shipping and gave up. BTW, the package was old card board and news paper.
You now have 180 days to file a dispute. If the seller turns out to be a crook, you can get your money back and give him a mark against him.
As a seller, I have my settings at two unpaid items to block jerks that just like to waste my time and money. Some still get by but most are good people buying what they want at a fair price. If you are a buyer/seller, check the feed back for signs of trouble.
Steve

Thanks for the help, fellas. Trying to track down some 270 mm's to use with cb550 forks so the caliper lines up ...i hear ya about buyin used. It is a bit of a gamble. New/NOS has proven hard to find and usually a bit too steep.
