Hi guys, first post, just created my profile!

I am in search for a rear 3 spoked cast rim for my 82 GPz750-R1

I have swapped the front end to one from a 2007 Suzuki GSXR-750 with A GSXR-600 wheel.

So i am looking for to match up the rear wheel as well.

Anyone know about something that would fit?

Cheers

I think itll depend on what sort of swingarm you have and what size tyre you intend to fit.
I put a gsxr600 arm in mine with a Bandit600 wheel and a 160 tyre. It all fitted without having to bugger around with the frame. The Bandit wheel is a 3 spoke cast.

Cool! I was originally thinking about keeping the original arm, but a switch is not off putting.

what year on the arm from the gsxr?

how will this interfere with the rear brake, and chain etc.?

Fitting a fatter rear wheel and/or swinging arm you need to think of chain offset too. ..might not be a problem but be aware of it.

I'd ooner TIG some shock mounts on a new swinging arm rather than convert it to monoshock.

The GPz zx750 unitrack had an 18" 3.00 rear 3 spoke mag that would be a much easier swap, with a 130 rear it will fit in the original swinging arm.

Finally, just because those GPz750R1 aren't worth much, yet...they are rare and definitely one I'd avoid hacking about too much.

To be honest,Im not sure of the year of my swingarm,it may be somewhere in my build thread.
CSR1000 Project Build.
This worked for me,though you would need to research your bike and whats possible to do to it. You have many hours ahead reading project builds on this site and others.Lots of possibilities, depending on how far you want to go with it.
A quick and easy swingarm swap is the popular gs1100. Goes straight in with a couple of spacers and you can keep your original wheel, chainline and brake.(youll need to change your shocks though) Or you could go with something more radical, fit a mono shock and a 180 tyre with all the work thats involved to get that sorted.
I have gone with something,I think, inbetween. It was still a lot of work though.
Pretty much everything that can be done to a bike, has been done and a lot of it is on this website.
Get reading and good luck

the thing is that I have two hehe, one in mint original condition, and the other bike started out as a part bike for the other one, but since I would rather buy new parts if I were to fix something.

the part bike was a bit shabby, so I´m making a caferacer out of it

Check out Instagram: User: RandomPhotographer88

but im not gonna convert to monoshock, so I will have to find only the rim.

Thanks for the input!

Bike looks fantastic Espen. I see why you want a different back wheel though. I had a look through my build thread and found this from Leon,Swingarms that should work.

97-03 gsxr 600 (no upper brace)
92 gsxr 1100 (no upper or lower brace)
those should install much like the gs arm.
these will take some modification but have been used on kz's in the past (and present)
99-07 busa needs upper brace removed(possibly lower brace added)
03-04 zx6/636 needs the pivot machined narrower
01-05 fz1 needs the pivot machined narrower
these will all need shock brackets added for dual shocks if thats what you want.
i'm sure there are others but these have all been used on kz's in the past.
what you have to watch is that the pivot doesn't get to wide to where it can't be machined down to narrow it.
hth,
leon
I used a GSXR 600 (2001-2003) in mine.
Things needed to be done to get it to fit;
Small diameter Z pivot bolt needed sleeved to fit the swing arm
Spacers either side of the pivot to fit the arm in the frame.
Chain adjusters needed adapting to take the small diameter axle
Shock mounts needed to be fabricated and welded on.
Passenger footrest/exhaust mount had to come off for clearence.

As for the wheel,I used an early 600 Bandit ,Though I think theyre all pretty much the same .The Bandit brakecaliper bracket and wheel spacers also fit and Ive added some loose washers to get the wheel centered. Ill have full size spacers made up eventually.I fitted a 160 tyre then I measured the distance twixt the tyre and the frame rail and was able to calculate how much to shave off the sprocket carrier to allow the chain to run true without rubbing on anything. I will also need an offset front sprocket.

Anyway good luck and keep us posted with your progress. Also, more photos would be good.

Wow! That was more info that i had ever hoped of getting anywhere! Thanks!

I'm thinking about looking for the Bandit rear rim i think, since I would prefer to keep the arm stock for now, maybe ill switch it next winter

My advice is to try to find a complete swing arm including rims/brakes/wheel and tire etc. if possible.
I used one from a 1990 GSXR 1100 ............12mm offset front sprocket / 530 chain .......180/55R17 tire.
Only thing then to do is to have sleeve machined for smaller pivot bolt.....weld on shock mounts as previously mentioned. Not that difficult!!!! Heres some pics of my install

Wow, that looks so cool! would love to do something like that.

The unfortunate thing is that the DMV in norway are crazy strict about what they will approve when it comes to homemade bikes and veichle mods in general, if I just did it and took it to the street and got pulled over, I would be in a world of shit hehe.

Fines, tag-removal, remarks on my record and so on...

I think I will see if i can get a Bandit wheel fit somehow, and keep the stock arm :)
