530 sprockets for 1985 GPZ750? was created by taylee
I would like to go to 530 sprockets but have heard conflicting tales. Some say I need special offset sprockets. Others have said I don't. I don't see why slightly changing the width of the chain will necessisate a new offset. Can someone with experience help me out?

You shouldn't need to offset, however if the stock sprocket has a boss on it, and your 530 sprocket does not, you will need to get some spacers to get it correctly positioned. I had to do it on my kZ1000 when i converted. Im not familiar with your bike so i don't know if that would be the case. Your best bet is to pull the sprockets and see if there are a bosses on either. There is some very helpful info on 630/530 conversions and sprocket spacing over at z1 enterprises.
