short side stand
11 Aug 2014 06:53
Looking for a little help. I have a 77 KZ1000 that I have stretched and lowered a little. Does anyone know of a KZ side stand that would bolt in place of my original stand that would be shorter than a factory KZ1000 stand? thinking like another KZ like a KZ400, KZ200, etc? if not, I guess it's cut and reweld to shorten. Any help would be appreciated. thanks guys. Tom

The stock a cast part? Watch welding it.......you might come out and find bike laying on its side due to weld failure.

on the other KZ I did in '98 we welded and shortened. I had it professionally welded and it worked great, but I understand about what you are saying about welding. we cut to length and welded new foot on bottom so if it comes loose, it wouldn't shift far enough to fall. just thought that maybe the smaller KZ's with the lower seat height might work but not sure about bolt and slot width on the top of the stand.

When I bought my bike in 82, the P.O. had 4-6 inch extended forks on it, tried to make it look like a chopper, I switched back to stock forks as soon as I could, but the kickstand was about 2-3 inches longer than stock & would easily tip over when on the side stand, so I heated it up bent it out some & bent the toe down ,to be flat with the pavement ...Perfect !!
1980 LTD 1000..,1976 LTD 900, have the 1000&900 now. the rest are previous= 1978 KZ 650 B.., 1980 Yamaha XT 500..,1978 Yamaha DT 400.., 1977 Yamaha yz 80..,Honda trail ct 70.., Honda QA 50...5-1/2 hp brigs & straton CAT chopper mini bike...3-1/2 hp mini bike (WHEN GAS WAS ABOUT 45 CENTS A GALLON)!!!!
