Kz750 Twin front Caliper

Wanting to mount a single rear mount left hand front brake caliper on my 77' KZ1000A. I ran across a 77/78' Front Caliper off of a KZ750 Twin. Is this the same caliper as would be on a 78' KZ1000A?

No, and according to Kawasaki.com the 77 and 78 kz1000A have calipers specific to them with no overlap on other models. They do share some parts though.

The calipers appear to be the same in appearance and the rebuild kits are the same for both models? So I don't now ???

hmmm. They very well could be interchangeable. I just looked up the part numbers on Kawasaki.com and it did not list the models as overlapping. They could have been issued a different part number because of different paint or something trivial like that. If they have the same rebuild kit it will probably work. maybe someone else can chime in here.

According to Kawasaki.com they use different pads, but it shows they use the same rotor. Ed

650ed, Appreciate your input. From the pictures again, they sure look the same? And the search for an answer continues ???

They have the same fork outer fork tubes, same rotor, same hub. and considering the complexity of a caliper to cast and machine Id be willing to bet that they are the same. THe reason they have different part numbers is as Ed mentioned, different pads. you should be good to go.
