What chain and sprockets are you using?

Hey Troll, welcome aboard - eller velkommen ombord som vi siger på dansk... Beautiful bike.

Whether you want to stay with 630 or go to 530, you can get all you need right here in Denmark from any bike shop that carry parts from Max Mc (MC-Nøglen), which most do.

The KZ 700 came with an 88 link 630 chain, 630 13 tooth front sprocket and 630 33 tooth rear sprocket (ratio 2.54) - for JT sprockets that would be a JTF518 front and a JTF501 rear.

For a 530 conversion you should get a 16 tooth JTF513 front and a 40 tooth JTR488, this will maintain your current final drive ratio (2.5) - if you want a different ratio the JTR488 comes in a variety of sizes from 38 to 46.

Apart from pitch the JTF518 and JTF513 are slightly different regarding the holes for the locking washer, but that's a minor issue and easy to fix.

As for chain an RK 530XSOZ1 or similar would be my choice, that's what I run on my 1100 - obviously chain length will vary with your choice of sprockets, I ordered a 118 link to be on the safe side.

These are the prices I have in my Max Mc catalogue (MC-Nøglen), all in DK kroner:

JTF 513: 90,-
JTR 488: 295.-
RKXS0Z1: 1000 - 1100,- depending on length.

From your other thread I see that you bought the bike in Viborg, where in Denmark are you located?
If you're in Midtjylland I can recommend Big-Bike in Silkeborg (where I live), but like I said most Danish bike shops should be able to help you out.

Yeah, a bit far, it was just a suggestion if you happened to be close, they have been good to me.

You can see a list of Max MC dealers here , there are several both in southern Denmark and on Fyn.

Btw, if you're in the south you should take the time to visit Jørns MC in Blans outside Sønderborg - Jørn is a real Kawa freak, he's not cheap but I doubt anybody in Denmark knows more about the old Kaws than him.

Switching over to a 530 size would really knock off a lot of weight .... I went with a aluminum JT 42 rear (off ebay) for my Kz650 along with the x ring chain from Z-1. Stayed with the stock 16t front too (new) as I fell the 650 is geared low enough already although a 15t is recommended for the drag strip. :woohoo:

Lets see now, 90 a pop for front sprocket, vs 295 ea for rear sprocket, which one do I want to buy two or three of to get the gearing right?

These truths we hold self evident, 90 is a crap load less than 295.
I believe we're talking Kroner here, but money is money, and if we're talking Euros, then all I can say is "holy crap on a cracker"!!!!
