Front Caliper Rubs

I just replaced tires on my 1975 Z1. Took the wheels off the rims and took them to a local bike shop for mounting and balancing. I left the front axle in the wheel when it went to the shop so they had to remove it for the balancing. When I re-mounted the front wheel I noticed there is a slight scraping noise when I spin the tire. I think it is the brake disc rubbing in the caliper ever so slightly. (the bike has one front disc brake). As far as I can tell there is no adjustment for moving the wheel left or right on the axle.

Any thoughts as to what should be done?

Did you squeeze the front brake which should center up the caliper as it is a floating caliper?

Ride it around a little bit, it should stop squeeking.

I was hoping it would be something like that--caliper needing to "reset" or "just ride it a bit and it will probably work its way out."

Snow and ice make riding it a bad idea for now. In fact, I had a hard time standing up in the parking lot on the way out of my office tonight. But soon as I get a chance I want to scuff in those new tires. I'll check the disc to see if its getting hot and make sure the wheel still turns freely.

the pads will typically rub enough to give a little swoosh sound,
but they shouldn't rub enough to drag or heat the disk up while riding.

perhaps the noise is normal. don't recall it doing that before though but I wasn't looking for that either. I'll give it a ride around the block and see if the disc heats up. I'll take it easy so if it grabs I won't get in too much trouble. Snow and ice here today and more coming tomorrow.

I also was thinking about draining the brake fluid and putting new in.

Make sure the caliper can still slide on the mounting pins, many freeze over time. Guess how I learned that....
