ok, so im probably gonna abandon the frame on my 1982 kz1000 csr. I have found some frames on line but I want to make sure they are compatible. There is a really nice 2002 police frame, and I know it has a bunch of brackets and bars and what not (which will all be removed) but will my 82 J motor fit the same way? is the rake different? if someone could fill me in on any critical differences between them

I mean, it looks like the police bikes were given additional bracing

Dont expect your seat to fit the Police bike. Youll have to use the police seat or fabricate your own brackets.

Ok, so the brackets are different? Not the width or angle or something like that? I don't even have a seat yet, I'm gonna make a custom pan from fiberglass more than likely

Do earlier (non J) motors fit the police frame too?

I doubt it. The earlier ones have one of the motor mounts under the middle of the motor, the 81+ frames don't have provisions for that
