KZ1100 swing arm conversion question
31 Jul 2013 14:40
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question or if it's been answered before- I tried lurking in the boards and using the search tool but couldn't find anything to my specific application.
I'm wondering if it is possible to do a rear swing arm conversion to a shaft driven '83 KZ1100. I've seen it done on pretty much every other type of bike, and I've even seen it done with an almost identical frame (I think it was a shaft driven 1000 frame, it's pretty recent in the boards) but I think they were planning on using a chain drive.
Is it possible? I just love the way they look, to be honest. I really don't ride that hard, but I don't bother driving my truck during riding season and I want to make this thing exactly what I want. If it is NOT possible, is it possible to do a conversion to chain drive?
Thanks for any help.

anything is possible if you can throw enough money at it.
converting to chain drive and then doing the swingarm rear wheel conversion would be the way i would go.
here is arnolds thread documenting his shaft to chain conversion and swingarm rear wheel conversion.

Also, thanks for the info- exactly what I needed. Time to start planning my major winter project...
