If you found a 19 inch spoke wheel from say a 78 KZ1000, what you are looking to do is order up a 16 inch Rim and Spokes and build a 16 inch front wheel. Or have someone do it for you.

Click----> The Wheel Master

I would like to know about this also, keep in mind that you should get the speedometer drive as well.

You'll be limited by the Speedometer Drive which will be for a 19 inch wheel, or there's an 18 inch Speedo drive kit from a German Company.

I'd prefer this.

look for a parts diagram and see if the part numbers are similar for the axle, bearings, etc

I did this swap on my 1978 KZ1000 LTD. I got the wheels from a KZ1000 A2. The front hub is a direct swap, the rear hub is as well, except you will need the rear spacers, disc, and caliper, as they are different to clear the spokes. I went to 18" front and rear.

Like Kraz1 said, once you have the hubs just order 16" rims and have them drilled for your hubs. I might recommend getting a rear hub with a drum brake because i'm not sure if the rear caliper will have enough clearance from the spokes with a 16" wheel. Mine clears the spokes with maybe 3-4mm. As you decrease rim size the spoke angle gets more extreme to compensate. It could be a problem with a disc brake, but it also could not. maybe someone with more experience could chime in.

also how wide of rims are you planning on using. And tires?

You might end up with odd handling with a 16" front wheel at higher speeds,A steering stabilizer might be a good idea. ;)

yeah you'll have more tire options with a 17". pick you tires before you buy your rims and get the manufacturer's suggested wheel size for the tire.
