Shaft to Chain parts compatibility

I seen a bike someone is stripping down on craigslist and I thought about getting some extra parts.
Will the rear rim from a 1980 KZ1000 "shaft drive" work on my "chain drive" 1978 LTD1000?
He has the motor also. Are the cases different from my engine?

The rim off a shaft drive will not work on a chain drive. With the engine you can convert it to chain but you need quite a lot of bits to do it, inner and outer sprocket covers, gearchange shaft, gearbox lay shaft to name just a few. $
