Master Cylinder

I put a new master on my front brakes and rebuilt the calipers and new braided lines and I still have a soft lever. Could the bore on the new master be to small. The bore is 14mm im not sure what the original bore is.

Kz bikes just have soft feel on lever....not like the newer bikes.

Does your bike have dual front disks? Mine does and the bore is 5/8" or 15.875mm. I believe that is the standard size bore for KZ bikes with dual front disks. Ed

Yes, 14mm bore is for single disc.
Using it with dual, you will get the spongy feel.

Imo the soft lever likely results from residual tiny air bubbles within the fluid inside the brake line. Such bubbles are sometimes difficult to excise via standard bleeding. Often, the softness will dissipate and self-correct during continued usage.

Yes I have dual front disk. when I squeeze my lever I can see the calipers actually squeeze on the rotors. Just didnt know if my barakes should get rock hard. I have bleed and bleed and bleed. Got rid of the splittier and went with two lines all the way down to calipers with double banjo at the master. I even reversed bleed with a syringe. just want to make sure everythink is ok. I can live with the soft brakes if thats all i get with my bike.

I think you would find the brakes much better if you installed the correct size master cylinder. My brakes are not soft.

I have the original master cylinder but he sight glass is busted out of It and it will need a rebuild. I would have no idea on how to replace the glass correctly

At the bottom of the reservoir there is a false bottom, I guess you can call it ,that you can pop out and there is two screws underneath that come out to take off the "sight glass ".

You might want to post that you are looking for that piece in the wanted section in the forum, maybe someone can help you out .

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI've heard people using 14mm master cylinders with no issues, if bled right, new pads, & rotors up to specs,....

Ive used the small master cylinder with dual discs on many bikes with no troubles,Id try zip tying lever towards the bar to keep pressure on it over night to see if it works any air back up to the master cylinder

do i need to open my resivoir when i do that?
