Want feedback on an idea...
03 Feb 2013 14:45 - 16 Mar 2013 05:20
I've got a simple method to suspend the front end (wheel/tire) off the ground, for extended bike storage, and cleaning.
I wonder if this is a good idea, and can think of no-better place to find out...
Is it acceptable for me to seek opinion here?
Took awhile to figure out the pic thing

Ok.
Well, this one is made of wood and is more or less a prototype, which I've been using for a few years. A definite go-to when washing the bike down, if I can remember where it was left after the last use, but always seem to find it where I would never have left it...
The thing is used in conjunction with the center-stand, on a flat and level floor surface. Once the bike is on the (locked) center-stand, this thing takes less than ten seconds to put in place. Without a center-stand, this thing would be useless.
It is a prop that fits under the horizontal frame cross-member, located behind the exhaust down-pipes in front of the engine.
I had to modify the design to work with the V&H system installed last year, so it works with either the factory 4-2 original, or an after-market 4-1 header.
When in place, both wheels are suspended about 3/4" off the floor, and spin freely. The front-end is able to rotate fully left to right. The wheel, and forks can be removed for servicing. I used it to support the bike while changing out the steering-head bearings too.
This unit will work with an 82' KZ1100A model for sure, and likely the KZ1000J, KZ1100 Spectre, GPZ1100, and what-all else I don't know...

Yeah that looks like it would work to take load off tires and suspension

Here's my opinion - that is one really nice clean bike with or without the stand. Ed
