Fellas, can't seem to find on Z1 or Ebay the rubber sleeves that go on the caliper slider bolts (pic included). They're not included in the caliper rebuild kits and mine are shot. Any suggestions? Tried searching this site with no luck. Thanks.

What application are these bolts for?
KZ 900 - KZ 1000? 1976 - 1980?
I have some for these calipers.
You need 2 or 4?
I am not home to do any pictures.
Can post a pic tommorow, Sunday evening.

Thanks Z1kzonly. Anyone know if this rubber coating on the bolt serves a purpose? 79 kz1000 shaft, all 4 are shot.

Guessing the "sleeve" affords a smooth close fit for the caliper to float back and forth.
Without the sleeve, may notice noise from the caliper, like a rattle, when riding over a rough surface such as a railroad track.
Perhaps it might be possible to use thin o'rings in the grooves (such as some other calipers are designed).
Good Fortune! :)

Or perhaps a short section of thin rubber/plastic/nylon tubing could be fit onto the shaft, or maybe slit first and then fitted onto the shaft.

Caliper should float readily and smoothly back and forth on the shafts, but with minimal "play" between the caliper and shafts.

Good Fortune! :)

Here's the front caliper parts diagram from kawasaki.com.

Am thinking #3 are the "sleeves" which don't have a separate part number.

The #11 dust seals are important to keep grit and road gunge away from the sliding surfaces where the caliper floats back and forth along the shafts.

Good Fortune! :)

Patron as always you're a wealth of knowledge. I think I may try a section of heat shrink and see how that goes. Thanks again!

Am thinking a light application of grease -- probably "disc brake" grease -- would be appropriate over the sliding areas along the shafts.

The dust seals should keep the sliding areas clean and mobile.

Good Fortune! :)

Yes you can always improvise, I do not have the small sleeves.
You can also coat bolts with new O-rings, and an application of caliper grease
for automobiles. I used to use never-seize on caliper bolts.
Nowadays they have a grease made for this type of application.

I just ran into exactly the same thing on my KZ1000st, this worked perfectly for me.
Wire wheel the crap out of those bolts, get them perfectly clean. I bought a tube of Pematex black silicone adhesive. Mount a razor blade in a vise, put a blob of the pematex on the shank of the bolt that needs to be covered with rubber, spin the bolt slowly using the razor blade as a spreader to get the silicone evenly all around the bolt. The first time I did it I found the silicone had shrunk when it cured, so I started over and this time I wrapped a little tape on either side of where the silicone goes to space the razor blade out and account for shrinkage.
Mine went together perfectly with a little lube on the Silicone, with no rubber those calipers will rattle like hell.
