Mono Shock on Stock Arm?

21 Nov 2012 22:09
#559539
I really like the open look of the mono setups I see here. Mine is a stock arm extended 2 1/2". I would like a mono for the looks along. I would want to keep my spoked 16 inch wheel and stock drum hub as well as stock front end. Anyone have one set up similar?

Are you thinking this might be a source to graft a suspension from for my Z1?

Thanks Ram, I could use another arm but I want to stay close to that 2-2 1/2 over stock length and want to keep the stock rear hub/wheel.

I like that idea! Has anyone done this on the Z1/KZ yet? I assume the battery will need to be
relocated?

Dont forget to brace the hell out of that stock arm, those dual shocks add a lot of torsional strength to keep it from twisting B)

I remember when I saw an fzr600 yamaha for the first time back in mid 80s it got me thinking of what a 900/1000 would look like with a single rear shock.
I spent many hours scratching my head from many angles looking at my bikes with 1 shock removed trying to figure out how to make it work with a stock arm,but decided there was just too much flex in the stock arms.
Ive got big plans for for some round tube 4130 swingarms that look like stock arms but are much stronger/lighter,But Ive just been so backed up dealing with headaches running my Plumbing shop lately theres no time in my day to concentrate on major projects(hell Ive still got frame gusset kits that have been sitting around for 2 months waiting for me to cut them out!  :( :pinch:  :S    )
