79 kz front end swap to zx11

I just bought a kz900 79 frame along with custom swingarm, zx11 front end rear end ect. and a almost complete 76 kz900 with 1800 original miles in a box... motor is perfect never apart and everything was stored inside and very very nice. Anyway I am having trouble swapping the front ends due to the lip in the steering tube on top where i want to put my bearing... Do i cut this off? or how do i fit this together and what bearings should i use? any help would be greatful thanks!!

You can either do a bearing swap if you can get the right bearings,or swap the kz steering stem into the lower tree from the zx11 front end

ok im a little confused still sorry and thanks for the help... All i have is two roller bearings or race bearings. Are you suggesting I buy all of the stock stem bearings for the kz900 to use for the zx11 front end?

Im using ZX7 I had my triples made there are 2 guys on here (at Least) than can hook you up Blackbanshee
does stem swaps and leon holt makes trees for what you want to do

try this 531blackbanshee or im sure he will come along tomorrow chack with Les holt Also for a top trees and other particulars depending on your handlebar mounting and other solutions

& and I am sure there are others I started a thread a while back called what front end did you use it has some good pointers and info if you can find it

I spent 30 years looking for a 78 and ended up with a 1980 version,they grow like weeds in his yard on the other hand! :woohoo:

I think all balls.com might be able to tell you if there are conversion bearings available,other wise you can swap the stem into the newer triple tree to make it work

u can take the stock kz stem out and swap it into the zx lower triple. then use stock kz bearings.
