14T sprocket, WHERE ARE YOU?! & biggest tires?

I'm starting to gather parts (or links to the parts due to cash reasons lol) for new tires, sprockets, and chain on my build.

It's a 81 kz440 B2.

Stock sprocket sizes are 15/45. This is mainly going to be for ripping around the city of Cleveland, so i'm going to drop a tooth on the front. But i can't seem to find a 14T sprocket anywhere for this bike. help?

Now, stock tire sizes are 90/90 and 100/90. Both front and rear fenders will be chopped, and i want to run as big as possible. I've seen ppl around here on the 440B run 100/90 and 110/90. But is that the biggest i can go on these spoked rims? As i've said, this is mainly for ripping around the city. i'm probably going with the shinko 712's


So, in summary....where can i find a 14T front sprocket? and what's the biggest tires I can run?

i was under the impression that the rim could only handle so much?

As I remember you can go to a 520 chain and use a counter sprocket from a xl250 or xl350 Honda.
The rear takes one custom ordered or stock one narrowed by a machinist.
As for the tire 110 is it.
Bigger tires turn slower, hampering turning and acceration.
If you want to 'go ripping' around town I'd go with the 90/90 & 110/90.
You'll out turn and accelerate a similar bike with over size tires hands down.

110 with a stock rim(1.85).
120 with a 2.15 rim(stock KZ650 or larger rear).
You main obstacle is the location of the chain, it is closer to the center line of the bike than the larger bikes.

yea this build is on the cheap, so i'm keeping the rims. Rex, staying with a 90/90 in the front and going up to a 110 in the back is an interesting proposition. Fat tires just look so mean though! haha. You make great points though.

Have you thought about going 1 up on rear sprocket instead?
Really small front sprockets are more likely to toss a chain.
I know of a stock looking 78 kz1000 that runs around town with a skinny little 110 metzeler rear tire hooked to a really healthy 1385 motor with a lock up clutch and a set of flatslides,thats really good at getting sportbikes on the hook and leaving them wondering what just happened! :woohoo:

You are limited to the stock gearing of 15/45, except for one company that makes a 33 and 41 tooth rears for a KZ305.
These are the only bolt on sprockets I have found that are available at this time.
As for the 2.15 rim I posted about on a previous post it has to be relaced to the 400/440 hub.

i'm not against going up in the back i suppose. I would want go up 2 in the back if I do though. I couldn't find any rear ones that big either though.

From their catalog it looks like they don't make a smaller front sprocket (unless it's custom made), but they can make a larger rear for me. Only thing is, it looks like they only do aluminum rears. With a steel front, and 530 chain, would an aluminum rear sprocket wear really quick?
