Frame brace kits

08 Sep 2012 13:50

Ive got a couple guys here locally bugging me about frame brace kits for 900/1000 frames,im gonna try and make the templates today some time and pick up the rest of materials on monday.
Anybody else interested in them?
Ill be making them out of 14g sheet metal so youll be able to weld them up with a regular ol mig welder or stick welder if thats what you have,of course you can tig weld them also if you have access to the right welder. B)

Well Ive got most of the templates cut out for the sheet metal gussets from 26g this time so theyll be easier to keep track of than the cereal box versions!
Still need to make swingarm pivot area templates then I can start on the tubing gussets for under gas tank/back bone.
Im going to pick up the 14g sheets and some tubing tomorrow B)
Since Im currently up to my eyeballs in stock kz1000 swingarms I might go ahead and chop the axle flanges and brake hardware off of one and start making a jig for those stock looking round chrom moly tube swingarms Ive been wanting to try and make since the wheels are finally starting to turn and its cooling off outside a little B)

Got it,check your pm box.
Looks like I need to build a frame jig,the frame this guy wants raked is little out of wack!
Anybody got plans for building a jig?
Ive got the frame shimmed up on a flat table with cradle leveled but the back bone tubes and steering head aint jiving, this bike must of been a hell of a flat tracker in its day! :woohoo:
Might just dig one out of my collection to build off of B)

Well if I could find a decent camera that actually worked Id post some progress picks,Ive been experimenting with differant ideas for back bone area under tank bracing that I think will be easier for people to install than the regular old tube bracing.
Im still fine tuning things .
I pulled a 77 kz900 frame out of my collection To use in place of the bent 76 frame for that dragbike project, first Im going to use it as a pattern for making frame bracing/gussets Ill make differant gussets for steering head for this frame after i rake it B)
