Anybody had their shock shafts rechromed? was created by mjg15
I have an nice pair of aftermarket shocks that I'd like to refurbish. Anyone with any experience or suggestions?

clean them up and wax the hell out of shafts ,then reinstall springs B)

I did mine Saturday night at 11:00, Kathy helped me :laugh:

Good idea about getting the woman involved with the waxing, I have a few other thing that she could probably help with also. I'll get right on that........

not sure how much help this is.

i sent my rear shock on my banshee off to race-tech.while it was there they had to re-chrome the shock shaft.hydraulic cylinders get ground and re-chromed as part of being rebuilt if needed,same kinda deal.

so you could call race tech and see if they can have it done for you or check with some local hydraulic rebuilders and see if they can have it done.

Leon, did Racetech give you a line item price for that re-chrome? I have a set of GSXR lower fork legs that are straight, but the chrome is quite pitted. If the price were right, I could get them re-chromed and sell the forks as a whole. As it is now, they are only worth a few dollars for spares.

they did josh,but it has been awhile since i seen it.i am wanting to say it was $148.00 bucks to do the one shock shaft.but i am not sure.

I'm a fan of RT but you can skip the middle man and just call up some chromers. That's not something new, rechroming suspension parts.

Race Tech charges $175.00 each to re-chrome. I sent them my ZRX shocks and they needed re-chroming. I didn't have them do it, way to much for my budget. They still have my shocks and I can't seem to get hold of anyone there. Not very good customer service. I sent them the shocks 3 months ago.

I dont get it....you sent them to Race Tech or not? Who is rechroming the shafts?
