ebay chains?? Cant find exact one was created by luvmykz
I see a chain and sprocket kit online that I would like to get. Seller indicates it is stock for the 1980 kz550 LTD C1 but no info on sprocket teeth count. My current ratio is 16 - 38 with a 530 chain. I am not interested in extra performance (unless it is free and easy) and would like to stay as close to original as I can, any chain/ sprocket advice would be appreciated. I weigh about 180 lbs. and mostly just drive in town under 50 mph. I am very happy with the performance of this bike just as it is and love riding it. My 1980 kz550 Ltd. C1 is a stylish classic, I was beginning to think I was a little odd because I wanted to put my girlfriend in the garage and brink my 550 into the room with me, but when I found this forum I realized that I'm perfectly normal. Ha! Ha!
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for replying. I see other chain/sprocket sets in the $105.00 price range, some with shipping charges as well. I guess what I would be really paying for is the fact that one seller gave a detailed description of the product, and the other one left that information out. Economic Darwinism compels me to choose the higher priced one because that is the 100 link 530 chain with the 16 - 38 sprockets. With no extra phone call required.
I didn't want to have to count the links and admit that I was going to assume that stock meant 100 link 530 chain. I should go count the links. Thats OK, I miss her anyway.

Honestly I don't know enough about chains to know much about brand names to look for and seller offered none. They were both o-ring.

I get most parts I need from ebay because my bike is old. This forum is where I learned about Z1 and APE, among others, that have the hard to get older Kawasaki parts or manufacture modified parts that work as well or better.
I had surgery on my vocal cords a few years ago and they had problems healing. My voice is impossible to understand on a telephone so I will pay extra to not have to call a vendor to seek information.

A high quality X-ring chain and sprockets is going to cost somewhere around $150, $79 is cheap Chinese chain. Front sprocket is $15-$20, rear sprocket is $30-$40, for decent ones, and good X-ring chain is $1+ per link.

I just checked Z1 Enterprises and Jeff's prices are a lot lower, like maybe $36 or so for both sprockets. But for some reason there is no chain listed. Jeff is a member here so maybe he'll post.

Z1 Enterprises

If you really want cheap chain, I know a guy locally that has a bunch of #50 (that's 530 on motorcycles) industrial chain, and I think you could probably get it for $0.25 a link, maybe less.

I looked at Z1 as well and could not find a chain either. I am content with an o-ring chain. I don't need to have top of the line parts where less expensive will work also. Also, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I was hoping that neatly bundled chain/sprocket kit for $79.00 online was just a good deal. I think the $109.00 o-ring chain set on ebay will do. Is the .25/ft. chain you can get o-ring? Do or would you use it?

Definitely give Z1Ent a call or email. I just got sprockets and an X chain from them and they were very helpful. Chain is chain. Nice bike by the way!

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.
