axle nut torque specs
03 Apr 2011 21:28
Hey everyone, I don't have a service manual yet but intend to get one, in the mean time i was wondering does any one have the axle nut torque specs for the front and rear wheel of a 79 kz1000st?? also the front axle "pinch bolts" torque specs would be nice to have as well, although not as important.
Oh and the exhaust flange nuts, 22ft/lbs i think i remember reading, correct? Thanks!

Axle nuts on mine are about 100 ft-lbs which is basically as tight as I can pull with the wrench that comes in the tool kit. Exhaust flanges I just pull up snug then go by feel and stop when I don't hear any more exhaust leak. 22 ft-lbs sounds a shade high to me, but might be OK (?)

90 ft/lbs for the rear axle, 75 for the front. Just snug the exhaust flange bolts hand tight, then snug a little more after the first good warm/up, or just to stop the clacking leak sounds
