Time for a new sprocket was created by Topper
Just removed my rear wheel and got a good look at the sprocket. This sucker looks pretty warn.

I think it would make a better ninja throwing star than sprocket ;)

I would bet that the chain is not in much better condition. When you change a rear sprocket you should always change the chain also otherwise the new sprocket will look the same as that one in no time.

Z1 always had the best prices on sprockets and chains. Buy new sprockets and chain from the same place and save the multiple shipping charges.

I'm pretty much out of funds for parts for the time being. I was removing the wheel to replace a worn tire and discovered this severely worn rear sprocket.

I can probably afford a new rear sprocket and maybe an engine sprocket, but that's going to pretty much tap me out for at least a month on parts purchases. There's no budget for a new decent chain.

I'm worried that replacing the sprockets but not the chain will just tear up the new sprockets.

So, should I...

1. Replace the chain with a cheap non o-ring style chain but know I've got to replace it next season?

2. Clean & lube the chain I've got, put it on with the new sprockets and put a higher quality o-ring chain on next month?

3. Keep running with the warn sprockets & chain for another month until I can replace all three?

I have a 38T 530 series rear sprocket and chain (both worn, but probably serviceable) that I have absolutely no use for. They came of an '80 750G and you can have them both for the price of shipping. May buy you a little more time or be a decent spare if you're in a pinch.
