Nope. The single sided wheels slide onto the axle like a car wheel does.

well couldnt that be done with, say for instance, RC Components or PM wheels. Without the hubs they have a bolt pattern

It depends on the swingarm too. Some SSSA like BMW's or VFR's bolt on like a car, others like my Triumph or a Duc have 4 pins on the drive hub that engage holes in the wheel with the single large center nut ala F1 wheel.

Gotcha. You see where I'm going with this. I want to build a SSS for a 18x8.5 rim. Just not sure if the wheels are offset or if they should be.

I believe the mounting face of my wheel is the centerline of the wheel, but I never actually measured it. It depends on the drive hub you are building around. What are you planning to use? That will help answer alot of your questions.

well im not sure. I just figured I would start with a triumph, ducati, or whatever swingarm and just reverse engineer. But i would like to have a cush drive like the sportbikes. And Im trying to keep cost down.

I wouldn't know for sure, but I would say you're looking at custom spec'ed parts.... nothing off the shelf. Contact talon or some other hub company and see if they can make you are 1 off single sided swingarm hub for spokes. You're still going to need to know the drive hub you're gonna use.....and its probably not going to be cheap.
I'm not trying to be mean or insulting, but I have to ask- if you are having trouble figuring out where you need to start and source componants, are you sure you are up to the task of designing a single sided swingarm?

Fair enough.... are you an engineering student? I'm fairly certain a SSSA needs to be engineered. I mentioned Talon hubs, that's the first that comes to mind.

where did you find an 8.5" spoke hoop at the widest I knew of was 6"?
edit: I found some harley wheels that 18"x8, 18"x9, and 18"x10. They were all either 80 or 120 spoke.
