I was messing around with with my 77 KZ1000 trying to figure out what all the swap is gonna require. Has anyone had a problem with the clevis on the bottom of the master cylinder push rod hitting the swingarm? if so what did you do? mine is hitting that clevis and im not real sure what im gonna do. thanks.

You need to give up!
Then send me the Suki swingarm.

Anyway, you can run a die down the threaded rod, make more threads and cut down the length to shorten it.

I just bought a 77 KZ1000 and I was thinking about changing out the front end for more stopping power. I can get an 86 Kawasaki 900 ninja for a few hundred bucks but I'm not sure if the steering stems match up. I'm also thinking about changing the swing arm out too and taking the monoshock suspension and suspension from the ninja. You think it would be a good purchase?

How big a tire can you fit in a GS1100 swingarm? I have heard the biggest is a 160mm and I've also heard the a 180 or 190mm tire will fit. Anyone know for sure?

i would bet a 180 would fit but if it did i think it would be real tight.

I swear I saw somewhere that a 160 was the max before chain rub...but I could be wrong. Can't find it anymore anyways.

Offset sprocket wouldn't be a problem at all but whether the 180/190 tire will physically fit in there without rubbing the arm is...that's what I'm worried about.

I am almost 100% sure a 180 will physically fit in the gs arm, you for sure need an offset sprocket.

It would be more polite to start your own thread rather than hijacking this one, but to answer your questions, the front end is not such a big deal, you'll need to swap the kz stem into the ninja triple clamp. The monoshock is doable, but requires a good bit of fabrication work. Use the search function on this forum and you'll come across a thread or two no both subjects.
