Am I crazy riding on this tire?

I never really looked close at my tires when I bought my bike a few months ago. I have been riding on this tire. Am I nuts? I do plan on buying a new one soon but I hate to park it until I can get that done. What would you do?... Honestly. I hope I did this picture right...

Just remember one thing. You only have two tires under you. It is your life you are entrusting to a piece of rubber. Make SURE it is a good piece of rubber.

Endangering more than yourself with that one, get 2 new tires. Hows your brakes?

To be honest the front tire looks very good. Should I change both tires at the same time or does it matter? Also, I am in south Jersey, does anyone have a recommendation on where to go for new rubber?

By the way, brakes seem very good. I could easily throw myself over the bars if I wanted to with the fronts...

Manufactures put a date code on the tire, the one you have there is a Dunlop Elite? Check the date on the front, most people would recommend replacing if 6 years old.

I have only owned the bike for a couple of months. Probably put about 400 miles on her. I do not have any issues stopping with those 3 discs. Pads are good and I don't push them too hard. I have been working through some carb and vacuum issues but I think I have them down now. Can anyone give me an estimate on tire replacement costs including mounting and balancing and all they do...

Well this would be a chance for you to do your own tires, and look at the brakes, chain/ sprockets and the wheel bearings. Cost depends on quality and size. You could spend as little as $50 a tire, but probably $90 up is more realistic.
Got a manual for your bike yet? You will need one if you don't.

Edit: if they are tube type/ spoke wheels, I recommend New Tubes at the same time, age.

I never thought of doing my tires myself. Isn't that a difficult process? Isn't machinery needed for that?

I do have a manual. Bought a new one off Ebay.

I have found I need some more tools such as big wrenches for the rear axle nut and I need to read up on chains and sprockets. Maybe tomorrow I will get some more pictures and see if you guys have any opinions for me.

Do you guys suggest buying tires on-line?

I was going to go to the local Honda/Yamaha dealer and see what they could do. Should I get lubed up in case they try to bend me over?

Tires are really easy to change, but with a street tire you need to "Static" balance it, or pay the pro's for a balance. One member just posted he paid $25 each, and that he thought that was expensive.
I have gotten some tires from a ebay seller called "Tires Cheap" his prices are fair and free shipping.
