That would depend very much on what you are trying to achieve with the conversion. Why are you doing it?

I want a lighter chain and a little more pickup off the line than the stock gearset.

OK that changes things around the other way. You want a larger rear sprocket. Than go with a 15t Front and a 42 Rear. That is a 2.80:1 ratio and is a good pickup ratio. That should even be geared enough for wheelies, and the chain will not ware out as quick as it would with a 13t front. You can also still use the same length chain.

I don't want to wheelie, I just want to leave the line HARD. Maybe I should run a 15T front and a 36 or 38 rear.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm running on mine but I do know that it is equivalent to stock in front and 2 up in the rear. With this setup 5K rpm is right at about 70 mph. When I want to pass I just give her a good twist. Mine was a real pain finding the rear sprocket because the PO somehow managed to install what appears to be an 80's ZX-10 drive hub and cush drive in a concours rear wheel. I've been running this setup for about a year and am really happy with it.

I know I got the gist, I just threw it right back at-cha ;) OMR just likes to bust my chops in PMs. I just thought I would bring his humor public. I hope that during all of this BS, we are actually able to help you. You want better cruising someone els wants better take off. Sometimes it just gets confusing on who you are attempting to communicate with at the moment. The point is that on the 650/750 the sprocket ratio is about at its optimal from the factory due to available HP from these mid size motors. Because the 750 is a more modern motor that has about the same HP as the old 900 had, a bit more can be done with it in both directions. The 750 has a bit less torque but a bit more available RPM than the old 900. This means that getting take off performance is a bit easier than getting cruising performance. I believe that if you keep the sprocket ratio between 2.4:1 and 2.8:1 things will be perfectly OK. Obviously 2.4 will give you cruising and 2.8 will give you takeoff. I believe that a SLIGHT deviation from those #s can also be allowed ;) Since they are only based on op pinion which is based on experience. You know what they say about opinions, "they're like A** Holes, Everyone's got one".

I tried to find the pliers and wire locally. Nobody caries them. I guess I'll have to order them.
