Best way to clean rust from exhaust?

Hey all. I have my old yosh exhaust which is nice but has quite a bit of surface rust. I really don't want to sandblast, and don't want to spend a million dollars. Ideas?

also a wire wheel on a 4 1/2" grider works pretty good just wear a dust mask and flapper wheels for the tight stuff

Turtle wax Chrome Polish(the liquid stuff in the can) and a kitchen wash cloth. It sounds weird but I cleaned up a lot of rust off of just about everything shiny place on my bike right after I got her. That stuff works wonders.

Alllllright, I guess blasting it is. But its so boring! I've gone through three and a half bags of sand on this build already, since I don't have a cabinet.

Oh, not chrome, I guess I should have said that. It must have been black at some time in its life, but now its all rust. I wish there was a chrome shop in my province.

I just brush on Muriatic acid. make sure that you do this on a piece of plywood or plastic. Do not do it over cement or grass. I have done quite a few that way it will remove all the rust (and chrome down to the Nickel) after which I wash it off and brush on Phosphoric acid to prevent any new rust from forming and than you can paint right over that. In about 1/h hour to 45 minutes the rust will be all gone.
