I picked up one of those lasers and it worked great once you get the hang of it. The only thing I was not happy with is that it's not magnetic so you have to hold it the whole time.

This is the main reason I am designing my own. Mine will be magnetic and will be designed to be used on the front sprocket, with or without chain installed. I bought enough components to build five units.

Sprocket specialists does not have the 635 series sprockets in stock. In short sprocket specialists is likely to be out of business fairly soon. We have 635 17 tooth sprockets on order with them for 6 months. It turns out they are having serious financial problems and had not even ordered them.

In the end we located their manufacturer and got them made up in 16, 17, & 18 tooth.

I’m with Leon. Keep it simple.B)
a good straight edge clamped to the sprocket is hard to beat for $ and accuracy.

Thank You Jeff for a extremely pleasant conversation today. It is such a pleasure to do business with you. I have already shipped the the JT527 sprocket back to you today. It is so easy to do business with someone who also lives this life. Maybe some people know but I think most do not that you are the proud owner of a "1200cc Turbo Z1" AHH isn't this the life sometimes just looking at my bike makes a bad day seam much better. Riding it can be orgasmic. Is that why my wife acts funny sometimes when I go for a ride! :woohoo: Got my two new sprockets ordered and "alls-well"

That is bad news about Sprocket Specialist. I ordered a 33 tooth rear with a Suzuki bolt pattern and they had in made and in my hands in less than 10 days. This occurred just last month. Good luck with your project!

Sprocket Specialists can still make aluminum sprockets as they do the manufacturing themselves. The steel front sprockets they have a couple of different companies make, and the rears are made by a manufacturer in Taiwan.

Through the grapevine, I understand Sprocket Specialists is up for sale (again). A few years ago, the original long-time owners sold to an investor. That person supposedly pulled all the profits out of the company to buy expensive toys, then sold the company to the current owner who is struggling with an under-funded company with an increasingly poor reputation for customer service.

TO give you an idea of the issues we've had:

In March we ordered some of the 635 front sprockets. At the time we knew they were out of stock, but we were told 2-3 weeks. After about 4 weeks we called and were told they were in the heat treating process - be patience. After a few more weeks we got a similar story. Finally we spoke to a person that said the sprockets would be in tomorrow and will shippas soon as they come in. After a week they didn't arrive. The person we spoke to next said they were not even in the manufacturing process yet - so they couldn't be in transit... This continued on for a few more weeks before we just had enough and managed to find the US manufacturer of those sproctets and buy directly from them (what was very frustrating was we found the sprockets were NEVER ordered from the manufacturer - and he had not received any new orders from them in months. IN TOTAL BETWEEN ROB AND MYSELF, WE HAD CALLED OVER 20 TIMES TO GET STATUS OVER A 3 MONTH PERIOD.

It's not just the 635 sprockets - we've had a number of other steel sprockets on order since March. This behavour is'nt isolated to this year. We've had similar issues last year - just not as bad.

Well Jeff, as long as we can get them under your label that is fine. Mater of fact maybe even better. Since we all know that you are one of the most scrupulous people in the business, this will just mean that YOU will stay in business that much longer since you can cut out another middleman. Not that I ever want to see an American company go out of business, (God knows that, that has been happening way too much these days) better prices will keep the economy flowing much better. Looking forward to receiving my two new sprockets.

Well guys, Jeff Saunders at Z1E failed me again. Failed to pi** me off that is  I ordered my two sprockets from him on Monday afternoon and I have them in hand today. That's two days. Jeff, I think you should change your handle on this web sight to "Merlin" Because I think you a re an absolute wizard. Not to mention that the Merlin was the best inline reciprocating engine ever designed and produced, thanks to one of your countrymen Mr. Henry Royce, Jeff, your service is beyond words.
