Damn edit won't allow re-imaging!

Here's another 14/33 combo @ 8K rpm...

Now don't get your panties all in a bind for as mentioned, your gearing and other variables in the KZ1000 vs my KZ900 are most likely different and my tires are only 17" front & back...

Also, I have the program @ 8Krpm for speed depicted....
As we now, these modified performance motors have a little added zip and rpm range. Not to mention performance cams and for the fact that I increased my displacement up to 1015cc...

With that said, in running my setup, this has pretty much came out exact! One thing for sure, if your pre & post combo comes out with an increase of .1 or higher, yes you will loose some top end speed, so freakin what but you will get there a hell of a lot quicker!

It will be interesting to see how yours comes out as well.... Keep us posted!

Obviously this got me thinking me more about this... Oh well, deal with it....

As can be reviewed below for MY SETUP....

@ 15/35 OEM sprockets, 2.33 ratio @ 110.6mph @ 8Krpm....

@ Present setup 15/37 OEM sprockets, 2.46 ratio @ 104.7mph @ 8Krpm....

@ 14/33 OEM sprockets, 2.35 ratio @ 109.5mph @ 8Krpm....

So by going up 2 teeth on the rear, leaving front alone due to my ZX6 pivot tube size I gained significantly in accelerations. Yes, lost top end speed which I didn't care about in my engine build... Remember, I went with low/mid range performance in my camshaft selection...

Considering the above mentioned, 1015cc kit, Keihin CR29mm carbs and tire/rim sizes, at 65mph my tach displays 4500rpm. The Acewell 2802 tach has a +/- 300rpm tolerance... Then throw in timing advance/retarded etc... So fairly close to the calculated speed/rpm values....

2.46 - 2.33 = .13 difference! B)
2.35 - 2.33 = .02 difference!

Now if you would have went one down on the front and 2 up on the rear (14/35 combo) ... B) ....

@ 14/35 OEM sprockets, 2.50 ratio @ 103.2mph @ 8Krpm....
2.50 - 2.33 = .17 difference! :woohoo:

Just for shits&giggles....

@ 14/37 OEM sprockets, 2.64 ratio @ 97.7mph @ 8Krpm....
2.64 - 2.33 = .31 difference! :woohoo:
Good luck on keeping this front end on the ground!

In any case, seems you got the other issues resolved from last week and are back on the road... Sweet!

thanks for your info! i have decided i want lower rpm at cruising speed with less accleration and z1 suggested a 16/37 which works out to about the same gear ratio as 15/35.i will install and ride and let you guys know how it feels z1 said the kz1000 will still leave rubber everywhere with that gearing

well i installed them this morning....what a greasy manuever that was!! it had 15/33 and i installed the 14/33 with a new chain...did i mention this was a greasy proposition?....a lot of smeg removal.....took her for a blast....slight difference ....its felt, but nothing earth shattering....spins up a little faster...kind of reminds me of putting on a set of underdrive pullies on a v-8...all in all i m happy...old stuff got replaced and she got a little more spunk........B)
