Wheel issue?
07 May 2009 17:55
Hey fellow KZ Riders, I come to you hat in hand looking for more advice.
I just got the tire on my new (used) wheel, from a 1978 650 I believe, and it doesn’t line up. I’ve got a 78 speedo drive and axle but the thing appears to be too narrow by about 5-6 mm. Everything forward of the neck is 78 except the caliper.
The forks appear to be straight and I sighted down the side fork tubes as best I can and everything seems good there.
Checked the parts drawings and it looks like I have the correct spacer on the other side. I’m running a single rotor like the CSR and the caliper lines up just fine. An additional rotor will not add any thinckness to the assembly because the axle doesn't touch it.
Is there a small spacer I’ve missed somewhere?

Yea, kinda tried that but it doesn't want to go that far without forcing it. Something's just not right. Maybe it's me?

Using the crude tools we have available here on the island of frank and my good eye, it appears to be 83 mm.

Csr, A couple thoughts, The (nuts) which fit axle to lower legs are inletted to recieve axle on their inboard sides. thus reversing is not an option. however, placing washers/spacers outside of speedo drive and r/h spacer are. Important things to note are that axle is properly torqued, wheel is centered, disc & caliper spacing is correct....As with most mods, It's best to mark things up.and in the future do your' own fitment. luck G
