Handlebar question

Hello!

Looking in to some superbike bars...currently running the mini ape wrist killer carpal tunnel tendonitus bars...

riding a 1982 kz750 H3(ltd)

anyone had issues running the stock cables with the superbikes?

I've read (while searching) that some had noted getting shorter cables...

I'd just assume not if I can safely get away with it.

Any experiences appreciated.

Looking to get these along with new tires...so i can finally ride comfortably...and without tire worries.

you could probably run the stock cables but they will stick out at wierd angles and they will have wierd bends to them so cable life will be shortened and possibly cause them to break.

Z1 Enterprises sells cables pretty cheap and they will tell you what model to get if you want like 2" shorter or something to fit the superbikes. I just put drags on the 1000 I recently got for nothing. Prolly head over there when I sell the 36mm flatties and Metmachex swinger.

Been running superbike bars on my '80 750 Ltd for a couple years now. The cables and brakes lines stick out a little but they work fine. One of these days I will get around to switching the out with shorter ones. Prolly go with SS brake lines when I do.

Probably a dumb question, "What are superbike bars?"

My very first Kaw experience was back in 1979. I built my very first Z1E900 chopper. Custom hardtail frame. Beach bars and stock grips. Its the handle bar grips that KILL your hands/transfer all the vibration of a hard mounted drive train to your hands. Get a good pair of foam or soft rubber grips to stop the vibration transfer to your hands. This will eliminate the hand numbing, hand killing feeling.
