630 VS. 530 was created by TeK9iNe
I'm really leaning towards changing down to a 530 chain/sprockets after reading all the info on Z1ENTERPRIZES about the conversion.

I'm just wondering though... Is it really worth any possible headaches? :blink: I know you save a little cash, but do I have to "take it easier" on the 530?

Will I get that much more accell/weight savings? :huh:

so many Q's ??

Cheers B)

I plan to switch to 530 on my next sprocket change - it has all the strength needed with a few pounds weight saving. What sprocket sizes are you planning on using?

I'm thinking same ratios as whats on there now, or maybe a litle bit shorter.

It was 16/39 I think... or maybe 16/40

I've heard that that is actually the best all around performance ratio 16/39=(2.4375), or around 2.5

PS. Nice Bike ;)

Chains measured in Rule of Eights
First number 6 = 6/8 = 3/4" link length.
Second two numbers are width.
3.0 = 3.0/8 = 3/8" link width.

Good Luck! :)

chains have come a long way. If concerned, check tensile strengths. todays 530s' often exceed period 630's. and regarding head-aches, what? Is there a dealership any where that stocks a 630 anything? conversions are simple. stay steel, go o-ring if you can afford it. with quality bits and reg. maintanance a current 530 should out-last stock. luck G
